Supporting volunteers for development

From 2007 to 2013 ANUE provided experts to assist in briefing and debriefing young Australians on volunteer placements in developing countries throughout Asia, the Pacific, Latin America, the Caribbean and Africa.

Native Title Anthropologist Grants

ANUE devised a structured program linking a Field School in the Northern Territory with a week-long Workshop Intensive program at the Australian National University, to support the Attorney-General’s Department objective of attracting new anthropologists to native title work and encouraging senior anthropologists to remain within the system.

ASEAN-Australia Development Cooperation Program — Phase II: services liberalisation assessment

ANUE conducted the Services Diagnostic and Needs Assessment Study — a component of the ASEAN-Australia Development Cooperation Program Phase II — to examine what constraints were restricting the liberalisation of services trade across the Association of Southeast Asian Nations.

Decision Support System for Environmental Flows

ANUE led a project for the NSW Department of Environment and Climate Change (DECC) which required the development of a prototype decision support system (DSS) — a computer-based information system supporting organisational decision-making activities — to manage environmental flows for Narran Lakes.

Measuring the impact of the Aceh Government Transformation Program

In 2004, Aceh was struck by a huge tsunami causing wide-spread destruction and massive loss of life. ANUE managed an impact assessment of the Aceh Government Transformation Program (AGTP) on behalf of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). The objective of the two-year project was to assess the effectiveness of AGTP/UNDP innovations in strengthening governance systems in Aceh.

Fertility and changing demographics in Fiji

ANUE provided technical assistance to the Fiji Bureau of Statistics in the preparation of a monograph on fertility-focused data and analysis, drawn from the 2007 and previous census data.
